Exterior Performance Test Engineer for Global Automotive Company in Raymond, OH
Summary:
Join an innovative team with a global automotive company in Raymond, Ohio as a Test Engineer to support the Exterior Performance Department full vehicle verification of exterior systems (i.e. Hood, Door, Tailgate) to meet customer marketability expectation. Bring your years of experience as a Test Engineer in the automotive, aerospace and/ or drivetrain industry to contribute to this successful team. You will be part of a highly selective group of engineers in charge of protecting this global automotive company’s legacy of world-class reliability and in this position, you will work on this project on its early stages of development and get to see it grow.
Responsibilities:
Will support the Exterior Performance Department full vehicle verification of exterior systems (i.e. Hood, Door, Tailgate) to meet customer marketability expectation.
Conduct geometrical analysis of already generated 3D Data in Catia V5/V6 to assess sub system layout criteria to an established standard.
Interpret FEA/CFD results to formulate engineering judgement of achievement to established standard.
Utilize measurement equipment (i.e. Microphones, Accelerometers, Digital Image correlation, etc.) in data acquisition software (i.e. National Instruments Lab View, Siemens SimCenter Test Lab) to measure and assess marketability phenomenon to an established standard.
Clearly document and effectively present prepared engineering 3D Analysis, Simulated, and/or measured test result.
Applies engineering principles, experiences, and various analysis tools to develop test plans/procedures.
Test design parts/components in area of specialty to determine design feasibility and ensure parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets and any applicable regulatory/internal standards.
Creates data settings, test specifications/standards and test schedule.
Prepares and setup test equipment.
Conducts moderately complex tests and documents/summarizes test results/conclusions.
Verify testing accuracy/thoroughness and determining if additional testing is needed.
Analyzes and interprets test results, predicting performance/failure and providing required product and design data.
Identify issues and develop countermeasures.
Communicate test results clearly in written reports/formal presentations and propose design changes.
Recommend countermeasures based on analysis of testing results.
Required Skillset:
5+ years of test engineering experience.
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering.
6 years of related experience may be substituted for required degree.
Strong understanding of vehicle systems and cross functional interactions.
Experience troubleshooting control system issues, propose and implement potential solutions.
Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and other technical software.
Bonus Skillset:
Ability to apply engineering principals to create new geometry in Catia V5/V6 to satisfy standard is preferred.
