Real-Time Simulation and Software Engineer for Hybrid eVTOL in North Carolina

Summary:

An innovative global automotive company working on their hybrid eVTOL has reached the next step in development and requires a Real-Time Simulation and Software Engineer onsite in North Carolina. You will help this multidisciplinary team succeed by leading the offline and real-time simulation development for the eVTOL vehicle.

Responsibilities:


Take full responsibility and work independently of the real time simulation facility.
Establish processes and standards to support the eVTOL simulation and model-based VMS software development.
Develop the simulation architectures and configuration control of models.
Define and control flight simulator configuration, select and work with suppliers.
Provide subject matter expert level technical leadership, mentoring and guidance on both practical and theoretical aspects of aerospace simulations and flight simulators.
Support managing the simulation scheduling, budget, and resources.
Support development, validation, and verification of simulation models.
Working together with different engineering teams and suppliers.
Track and report status to ensure milestones are met in support of the overall program schedule.

Required Skillset:

6-10+ years of industry/ hands-on experience in complex aerospace simulation development in a Military or Commercial aircraft development programs.
In-depth knowledge of Matlab/Simulink offline and real-time simulations, either in commercially available environments or custom environments
Familiarity with typical real-time / hardware in the loop (HIL) platforms, such as dSPACE, SpeedGoat or equivalent.
Must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding, knowledge, and ability to develop aircraft simulations, and optimize real-time simulations.
Experience in integrating real-time flight simulators (pilot-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop) – visual systems, inceptors, HIL interfaces.
Experience in model-based software development in accordance with, ARP4754A, DO-178C and DO-331.
Deep understanding of communication standards and protocols (RS-422/485, CAN, ARINC-429, AFDX, Ethernet, TCP/IP, USB, etc.).
Experience in version control – Bitbucket / Git / SVN and issue tracking – Jira or equivalent.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret the results of engineering analyses.
Team leadership, strong decision making and communication skills.
A Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering area, with a Master’s degree in a technical and/or management specialty preferred.
Ability to effectively succeed as an independent contributor, effectively approaching unknown situations head-on in the real-time simulation environment.

Location: North Carolina (Relocation assistance available for candidates out of the immediate area)
Type: Fulltime (Onsite requirement to take full responsibility of the real time simulation facility.)
