Engineering Program Manager for global consumer device company in Cupertino, CA

You will join a team that is responsible for developing technologies, calibration methodologies and the respective instrumentation for the calibration and validation of a popular consumer electronics company’s products. This team designs solutions that will be used during New Product Introduction.

You have experience with cameras, test & calibration stations, bringing up test line, consumer electronics devices and working with vendors. You have cross-functional experience with internal team engineers to define test requirements, test for calibrating and testing cameras. You will be working on developing instrument or products with optical or camera background.

You are a leader who can drive the development of our instrumentation in parallel to that of the product; you thrive in a dynamic and high pressure environment. You have a deep understanding of software and hardware fundamentals & a background designing of complex systems. You will apply your excellent communication skills and passion to lead multi-functional teams to develop ground-breaking products. Your contributions will make a pronounced difference to future embedded products that teams will take great pride in.

Responsibilities:

Establish and manage program feature baseline, scheduling, critical path, and technology risks areas for execution
Support project definition and drive closure of architecture and technical opens
Will work with team to define the requirements and the station needed for calibrating cameras.
Will lead bring up on the entire line in Cupertino area.
Determine what stations and calibration they need; then, lead the bring up of all the line and turn over to another team that will manage the testing/calibration.
Grasp complex technical matters or abstract issues and present them in an actionable form
Identify and highlight risk areas and mitigation strategies making sure the right people are involved. Resolve roadblocks for the team
Cross-functionally communicate at a senior level key developments and updates on new instrument/fixtures
Help lead technical cross-functional teams in engineering and validation activities
Requirements:

5+ years of industry experience taking products all the way from concept design and architecture definition, through execution, including engineering development and validation to ramping and shipping
5+ years of project management experience
Strong technical background, must have a good understanding on how hardware works (consumer device experience is highly desired)
Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of uncertainty
Self motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities, capable of identifying risk early in the project.
Well-versed in setting up project schedules and work breakdown structures
Excellent communication skills verbally and written
Leadership skills and ability to inspire team members
BS EE/ME/CE degree or related experience

Preferred skillsets:

Camera or optical background
Camera calibration or camera test experience
Working with vendors and test stations
5+ years of industry experience taking products (preferably portable consumer electronics devices) all the way from concept design and architecture definition, through execution, including engineering development and validation to ramping and shipping
MS desired

Location: Cupertino, CA (alternates between 100% onsite and Hybrid phases)
Duration: 12+ months
